Jesus said, “Get behind Me, Satan! You are in My way [an offense and a hindrance and a snare to Me]…” (Matthew 16:23, Amplified). In another translation, He said, “Get away from Me, Satan! You are a dangerous trap to me…” (NLT). What was He talking about? What could possibly have been the most dangerous trap that even the Son of God recognized it for what it was?
In this episode, Daphne and Angie address the issue of self-pity and the risk of falling prey to the same temptation Jesus faced. Peter had no idea that his simple suggestion would cause the reaction he received from Jesus, but there was a very good reason why Jesus responded the way He did.
The bottom line however is, having a good understanding of our identity in Christ can actually become a reservoir the Holy Spirit will use in such times (that all of us will be subjected to at some time or another).
