Get Yourself to the Gym

Podcast Episode 009

No, we’re not literally telling you to go to the gym, but spiritually-speaking, there’s a great parallel with how we train and discipline ourselves in the natural.

The Bible says, “You have been believers so long now that you ought to be teaching others. Instead, you need someone to teach you again the basic things about God’s word. You are like babies who need milk and cannot eat solid food” (Hebrews 5:12). Ouch! But truthfully, we all need a good coach to tell us exactly what’s going on.

In this episode, Daphne and Angie talk about:

  • Targeting certain areas of growth
  • How the Holy Spirit can motivate you
  • Growing strong by “reason of use”
  • And moving past the unmotivated stage

  • Hi Angie and Daphne! I really related to your topic this week, because I have recently been convicted to be more consistent about going to the gym myself. Consistency is certainly the key. In fact, we know we are making progress in our spiritual consistency when, if we are forced to miss our daily private time with our Father, it disturbs us, upsets us and makes us miss Him! Being committed to significant daily time with Him, in the Word and prayer by His Spirit in us, is what will really begin to strengthen us emotionally and spiritually, toning us up and making us more fit for His service.

    • You hit it on the nail Stephen 🙂 Sadly, I don’t miss the real gym like I miss my time in prayer and study. But that says something about my commitment to things that matter to me huh? Glad you could join us in this episode!

The gym just like the word of God both bring correction AND satisfaction to our bodies! Although no one looks forward to the pain.. we all look forward to the reward! Let’s keep our eyes fixed on the prize, and our feelings left at the starting line! Win Win!!! Thanks again for your feedback Stephen.. you’re like our “spotter” at the gym:)
