What you choose to wear typically fits your mood or your day (such as work, play, etc). So isn’t it interesting that the Bible says LOVE is your all-purpose garment?
In other words, it’s important to first know God loves you. And secondly, that love should be something you choose to wear everyday.
Our identity is often defined by our wardrobe (or we hide behind a certain persona that we want others to see us as). The same is true in a spiritual sense. In this week’s episode of Identity Advantage, Daphne and Angie talk about the parallels between a natural wardrobe and the spiritual clothing God has custom-made for us–and how it defines who we are.
“So, chosen by God for this new life of love, dress in the wardrobe God picked out for you: compassion, kindness, humility, quiet strength, discipline. Be even-tempered, content with second place, quick to forgive an offense. Forgive as quickly and completely as the Master forgave you. And regardless of what else you put on, wear love. It’s your basic, all-purpose garment. Never be without it” (Colossians 3:12-14, MSG).
