On this one-year anniversary of Identity Advantage, Daphne and Angie take a serious look at depression and oppression. These two are similar but not exactly the same. Depression describes being sunk down because of grief, whereas oppression describes the feeling of being heavily burdened (or we could say it feels like depression with a rock on top of you). Either way, these emotional attacks are very real.
The Bible says Jesus was anointed by God to “heal all who were oppressed by the devil” (Acts 10:38). And Jesus Himself said, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor…” (Luke 4:18). Oppression is an attack of the devil and the word poor literally describes those who are crouched and heavily burdened. Jesus has a great desire to help those in this condition.
So just as real as depression and oppression are, so is God’s love for us! And God has given us tools to help fight these spiritual attacks from the enemy!
