One of the greatest of all human faults is to justify ourselves when we make a mistake or miss the mark (maybe we should just call it sin). To justify basically means to show a satisfactory reason or excuse for something done.
In this episode of Identity Advantage, Daphne and Angie talk about obedience versus sacrifice. The problem with sacrifice (or in this case, justifying what we’ve done) is that it comes across as a stage production. God is looking for obedience, not pretending. In fact, to justify it to half-lie. But who are we really lying to when we justify ourselves?
