People have asked me, “Daphne, why do you talk so much about righteousness?”
My first response is because my life was forever changed at the revelation of the great exchange God made on our behalf– our sins for Christ’s righteousness.
And secondly, the Bible says, “For in [the gospel of Christ] the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, ‘The just shall live by faith'” (Romans 1:17). Other translations say:
“God’s way of putting people right shows up in the acts of faith, confirming what Scripture has said all along: ‘The person in right-standing before God by trusting Him really lives'” (MSG).
“This Good News tells us how God makes us right in His sight. This is accomplished from start to finish by faith. As the scriptures say, ‘It is through faith that a righteous person has life'” (NLT).
“For in the Gospel, a righteousness which God ascribes is revealed, both springing from faith and leading to faith [disclosed through the way of faith that arouses to more faith]…” (AMP).
And this is what makes my intrigue with righteousness so exciting. The more we learn about our righteousness in Christ, the higher we go in faith. It’s a journey!
Have you ever been on vacation somewhere, exploring new places you’ve never been to before? Isn’t it fun to see something new?
This is how I feel about righteousness and God’s Word. I’m amazed at the way in which He accepted us and made us His children. And the more I read and study, the more I see and understand. And then with each revelation, the more excited I get about the love of God that saved us from our sins, giving us right-standing with Him and authority on the earth!
Maybe your soapbox is prayer, or faith, or love. But whatever excites you in God’s Word, I promise that’s all you see as you read it. Why? Because you can see the hidden thread of God’s truth revealed in everything He has said or done.
When I’m given a specific theme or topic to minister on at a conference, I am always obedient to follow it, but no matter how hard I try, somehow the message of righteousness shows up. I believe it’s because all other gifts are tied directly to our right-standing in God (or maybe that’s my personal opinion).
Either way, the message of our right-standing with God excites me. And I hope my writing helps you see the thread of righteousness in everything. I want you to know who you are in Christ and all that has been given to you through His great exchange.
In other words, I want you to enjoy your journey of faith from start to finish, a journey that arouses to more faith! So tell me, what excites you when you study God’s Word?
