Want Results? Stay Stuck Like Glue

When we think about something being “permanently fixed,” we’re referring to anything that is fastened, attached, or placed so firm, it’s not readily movable. This could be anything from a palm tree to a cement bunker.

In the same manner, Jesus asked us to be permanently fixed in two things: His Word and His Love.

If you’ve ever used super glue to repair an item and accidentally gotten some on your fingers, then you understand permanently fixed. It’s not easy to separate what’s been glued together (even in a micro-second)!

Keep this image in mind as we look at the instructions Jesus gave us when He used the word abide. It describes someone or something that is permanently fixed, versus having an occasional, or even semi-frequent, behavior pattern. “If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire and it shall be done for you. If you keep my commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love” (John 15:7,10).

Think about it: If God’s Word is permanently fixed in us, He promises to answer all our prayers. And then to top that, Jesus said if we obey the Word we have established in our hearts (versus putting it there and doing nothing with it), we can also rest assured that we are permanently fixed in God’s love!

Neither of these are small things.

Jesus said, “I have told you these things that My joy and delight may be in you, and that your joy and gladness may be of full measure and complete and overflowing” (John 15:11, AMP).

What a promise! I love basking in God’s love and sharing it with others. And I love it when His joy fills my heart to overflowing… especially when prayers are answered and God is made known to those who aren’t strong in their faith.

Jesus said the key to these kind of results is simply found in abiding. In other words, staying stuck like glue!

I hope you will take this encouragement as motivation to get yourself permanently fixed, attached, established, firm, immovable, secure, solid, and steadfast in His Word and His Love. Oh, there’s nothing like it!

May your joy be full!
