Keeping it simple today with a list that will keep us busy for some time.
Sometimes we make things harder than they have to be. God’s Word should always be viewed as something for our good — not as a list of do’s and don’ts, but as a list of successful strategies — from the One who knows best.
With that in mind, let’s just use Romans 12:9-21 as a list to live by:
- Let love be without hypocrisy.
- Abhor what is evil.
- Cling to what is good.
- Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another;
- Not lagging in diligence, [yet] fervent in spirit, serving the Lord;
- Rejoice in hope.
- [Be] patient in tribulation.
- Continue steadfastly in prayer.
- Distribute to the needs of the saints.
- [Be a person] given to hospitality.
- Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse.
- Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep.
- Be of the same mind toward one another.
- Do not set your mind on high things, but associate with the humble.
- Do not be wise in your own opinion.
- Repay no one evil for evil.
- Have regard for good things in the sight of all men.
- If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men.
- Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give [it to God].
- Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
Choose one or more to focus on in your life right now. Then as you master one, add another. Allow God to show you where you’re lacking and how He can help. If our goal is to be more like Him, these can’t be neglected or ignored. Success is found in the intentional steps.
